Subject: Gamma Cassiopeiae, SAO 11482, Spectral Type B0.5IV: evar, magnitude 2.47
Telescope: Takahashi FSQ-106n @ f/5
Mount: Losmandy G-11
Imager: SBIG ST-237a with fiber fed spectrometer @ 1.86 Angstroms/Pixel
Image Details: Gamma Cassiopeiae is a type Be (for Balmer emission) star with prominent emission lines of Hydrogen. This is due to a shell of Hydrogen that encircles the star. The speed with which the shell rotates determines the broadness of the spectral emission lines. Imaged: 17-November-2001.
